Crocheted Barbie Clothes

While I was out-of-touch with the technological advanced side of the world, I did a little antique shopping.

I was not looking for anything in particular.  I mostly like to browse and interact with people, but I did spot a little something that I could not go home without purchasing.  At first glance you might think these are vintage hot pads.  You would be incorrect.  These are vintage crocheted Barbie doll clothes; a dress, a skirt and shorts.  I have never seen crocheted Barbie clothes and these completely charmed me.

You really can not see their full charm unless Barbie models them....

The details in this little dress are impressive.  The crochet work is very neat and I can't see a dropped stitch anywhere.  The skirt has an elastic waist band, pockets and a snap closure and the shorts have a snap closure too, as well as, a delicate crocheted crotch.   Cute!  Cute!  Cute!

When I placed the items on the counter for purchase, the proprietor could not say enough about how darling she thought they were.  My mother sewed most of my Barbie clothes and I still have them somewhere.  I now plan to hunt them down.

And how about this beautiful old Methodist Church?  I had to stop and take a photo.  There is something special about a small white church house, don't you think?

Thanks for reading, Rosie.

Great purchase. I still have the Barbie clothes my grandmother sewed and knitted for my dolls.

I crochet so I know how tedious these are to make. I have made several of the Annie's Attic doll dresses and I need to make some for my grandadughters, but I enjoy making doilies more. Don't you love going to other towns and shopping?

Beautifully made garments! I used to sew Barbie clothes for my younger sister's Barbie doll (I was too old to have one), and later, with more skills, for my daughter's dolls. The small size only makes it more difficult.

I had some very similar when I was young! I sold them on ebay last year.

Thanks for sharing :)

I never had a Barbie doll, but I would get one now if I ever found crocheted clothes like those.

Oh, these bring back memories. My mom crocheted and knitted some of our Barbie clothes. I still have some of the clothes as well as the pattern books she made them from. These are really cute--thanks for having Barbie model them too for the full effect!

What an interesting vintage feature you have for today. I think the Barbie cloths are the neatest things. The Barbie items are a collector's dream.

Fun! Somewhere in my past, I've seen crocheted Barbie clothes before. I think they are so neat.
My mom made some of my Barbie clothes too, and then my Barbies had hand-me-down clothes from my older cousin's dolls. :)
Love how Barbie is modeling the outfits. I like the purple dress.

I'm a bit jealous that you were able to go antique shopping. I've been dying to do that lately but haven't due to our schedule. Soon, soon. They antiques are calling....

Okay I knew we were destined to be best friends now this confirms it. Love, love, love the clothes. I am a huge Barbie fan. I have about 30 of them in a curio because I am a nerd like that. I sill have my mom's homemade barbie clothes. And then my grandma made clothese for my brother's GI Joes, like a Santa Clause suit and Easter bunny outfit. Priceless.

Nice find! I remember knitting my barbie some clothes - but as I was 7 at the time and knitting inexpertly with 2 ballpoint pens, they didn't look anything like as good as these!

Nice find. I remember homemade Barbie clothes that were sewn and I always wondered how someone could work with such tiny things. Crochet would be a little easier I would think.

Oh, Oscar...thank you so much for the greeting...you certainly know how to charm a lady!

Love the church....so charming! And I don't remember ever seeing crochet barbie clothes, I remember my grandma making some clothes for barbie...but none like these! I love them.

Have a great weekend....and give Oscar a treat!~

I've never played with Barbie and I don't know about doll fashion, but I must say these clothes are an art form and quite lovely. Just Say'n

We never had Barbies in my house...and I vowed I would never give them to my granddaughter either...but I remember when I was small having "storybook dolls" for which a friend's mother made extra outfits. At least they were sweet and innocent, not "projecting" themselves into the lives of little girls who didn't need the fast advance lane to adulthood...oh, well, that's just me. Your new clothes are precious. Treasure them always!

I love the little church...you have them in the South and in New England and scattered in other places too. There's a little church beside the road into Thunder Bay from the border that makes me think of this...it has had three additions in its life--you can tell by the three different roof sizes jutting from the back. Quaint...and precious!...merry sunshine
